Professor Tsair-Fuh Lin

Dr. Tsair-Fuh Lin is a Chair Professor in the Department of Environmental Engineering at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan. He served as Vice President for Research and Development at NCKU from 2020 to 2023 and was the President of the Chinese Institute of Environmental Engineering in Taiwan during the 2023–2024 term. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
Dr. Lin’s research focuses on the identification and treatment of cyanobacterial metabolites in drinking water, the development of innovative technologies for groundwater remediation, and sustainable environmental management. He leads the Groundwater Contamination and Drinking Water Laboratory at NCKU, where he addresses critical issues in water quality and environmental protection through interdisciplinary research.
He has received numerous prestigious awards for his academic contributions, including being named a Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA) in 2012 and 2018, and an International Honorary Member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists in 2015. He was honored with the Outstanding Research Award from Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology in both 2017 and 2020, and the National Excellent Teacher Award from the Ministry of Education in 2022.
Dr. Lin plays an active role in both national and international professional societies. He currently serves as Chair of the Management Committee of the IWA Tastes Odours and Algal Toxins in Drinking Water Resources and Aquaculture. He has also contributed to academic publishing as an editor or editorial board member for leading journals such as Water Supply, Sustainable Environment Research. In 2023, he served as the Co-Chair of the IWA-ASPIRE Conference and Exhibition held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
Dr. Lin is a strong advocate for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. His work continues to impact water treatment and environmental engineering practices across Asia and internationally.
